Profil pasien posterior capsule opacification periode 1 januari 2016 sampai 31 desember 2017 Di RSUP Sanglah Denpasar

Abstract

Pendahuluan:

Introduction:

Posterior capsule opacification (PCO) is an opacification develop over a clear posterior capsule, a few month to years after uneventful cataract surgery. The most effective management is capsulotomy by applying Neodymium-Doped Ytrium Aluminium Garnet (ND YAG) laser. This may however be associated with some complication such as raised intra ocular pressure (IOP), glaucoma, cystoid macular edema, and retinal detachment. The aim of this study is to describe profile of PCO patients in the period of 1st January 2016 until 31st December 2017 at Sanglah General Hospital.
Method:
This report is an observational cross sectional study. Data were collected retrospectively from medical report of PCO patients in cataract and refractive surgery division in Eye Policlinic Sanglah General Hospital during 1st January 2016 until 31st December 2017. Patient’s profile was analyzed using descriptive analyses and presented as frequency, percentage, mean and median.
Result:
In the period of 1st January 2016 until 31st December 2017, there were 91 PCO patients who came to eye polyclinic. The majority is man (60.4%), age mean was 59.23±17.448 year, most of them live in Denpasar (34.1%), duration of diagnosis median is 12 month. There was statistically significant improvement of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before and after capsulotomy, but no significant raise of IOP before and after capsulotomy. There was no correlation between BCVA improvement with patient’s duration of PCO diagnosis.
